Sixty rescued individuals, including railway employees, have safely reached Quetta under tight security following the deadly Jaffer Express attack. The group comprised 45 passengers, 12 railway staff members, and three postal department employees, all transported to Quetta by bus.
Speaking to the media, the rescued passengers recalled the harrowing ordeal, saying they had feared for their lives after the train was attacked. They expressed deep gratitude to the Pakistan Army and Frontier Corps (FC) for their swift and successful operation, which ensured their safe return.
Upon arrival at Quetta Railway Station, emotional scenes unfolded as family members and colleagues welcomed the 12 railway employees with flower petals. Many broke into tears of joy as they embraced their loved ones.
Providing details of the attack, Jaffer Express driver Amjad Yaseen stated that the train was traveling when an explosion occurred on the track, causing the engine to derail. He described how the attackers, numbering between 35 and 40, launched an assault. However, all railway staff members remained unharmed.
He further commended the military’s rapid response, crediting the armed forces for rescuing them through a well-executed operation. Assistant driver Abdul Qadeer also expressed his gratitude, stating, “We have been given a new life, and for that, we thank God.”
