Pakistani actress Alizeh Shah has revealed the emotional toll of social media and media harassment, sharing a deeply personal account of how things have spiraled beyond her control. The actress disclosed that after taking a break from Instagram, news channels contacted her parents to inquire about her death, an experience she described as deeply distressing.
A few days ago, Shah had decided to step away from Instagram, sharing a story where she referred to social media as a “worse place than hell.” Her Instagram bio also became the center of attention, where she had written “Not Dead” in response to ongoing rumors about her.
In a recent post, Alizeh Shah expressed her frustration and disappointment with the behavior of both the media and social media users, urging people to let her live her life without constant scrutiny. “Things have gone beyond my tolerance,” she wrote, adding that she has been struggling with severe mental distress due to trolling, harsh criticism, and negative comments. The constant barrage of negativity has started affecting her physically as well.
Shah stated that she feels she has no choice but to completely detach herself from social media and media to protect her mental health. She recounted a specific incident where, after deleting all her Instagram posts, she clearly stated in her bio that she was alive. Despite this, rumors persisted, with some people spreading false information about her and even media outlets contacting her parents to ask if she had passed away.
The actress emphasized the pain of her family members, particularly her mother, who had to endure these unsettling questions. She pleaded with the media and social media platforms to cease their campaigns against her, expressing uncertainty about her return to the industry or social media.
Alizeh Shah concluded by saying she is exhausted from the relentless behavior of both the media and online users and no longer knows when or if she will return to social media or acting.
