Actress Saima Qureshi has stated that beauty alone does not guarantee success in the drama industry.
Speaking on the popular television show Mazaq Raat, she emphasized that while good looks may provide an initial opportunity, true success comes from talent and expression.
“Yes, one may get a single chance for the way he/she looks, but if you do not understand the craft and your expressions are not great, the audience will catch it at once, and you will not be able to sustain in this industry,” she said.
Saima Qureshi, a mother of three, recently delivered a strong performance in Duniyapur as Nauroz Adam’s wife.
Addressing the issue of stereotypical portrayals of women in Pakistani dramas, she stressed the need for change. “We need to move away from scripts that repeatedly depict women as victims,” she asserted.
According to her, Pakistani women have become significantly more empowered over the past two decades, and dramas should reflect this progress.
When asked about the kind of change she would bring to the industry, she stated that she would rewrite scripts to present a true picture of Pakistani women and highlight their genuine issues.
Saima Qureshi began her acting career in the 1990s with PTV, appearing in dramas such as Tasveer, Chahatein, and Dil Ki Dehleez Par. Her versatility as an actress is evident in her extensive body of work across various television networks. Some of her notable projects include Bandish (ARY Digital), Mann Ka Bhanwar (ATV), Harjaee (Indus Vision), Cheekh, Deewar-e-Shab, Nand, Bandhay Aik Dor Say, Ishq Hai, and Amanat.
With her decades-long experience in the industry, Saima Qureshi remains a vocal advocate for meaningful storytelling and the representation of strong, independent women in Pakistani dramas.
