Professor Viktor Gao, Vice President of the Center for China and Globalization, has responded forcefully to Indian media claims regarding the ongoing tensions between Pakistan and India. Gao emphasized that China and Pakistan share an unbreakable bond, with China committed to offering all forms of assistance to defend Pakistan’s sovereignty.
In an interview with an Indian anchor, Gao clarified that China and Pakistan are long-time allies, particularly in times of adversity, and that China will always support Pakistan in defending its territorial integrity. He responded to questions about terrorism-related tensions between the two nations, stressing that, rather than casting baseless accusations, impartial investigations should be conducted when such incidents occur.
Gao also highlighted the fact that Chinese citizens have been targeted in terrorist attacks in Pakistan, but instead of blaming Pakistan, China called for independent investigations. He acknowledged Pakistan’s significant steps in counterterrorism efforts, reaffirming China’s stance of non-interference and support for Pakistan’s sovereignty.
Reiterating the strength of China-Pakistan relations, Gao stated, “The friendship between China and Pakistan is like a steel wall. We are neighborly allies in both good times and bad. China will never compromise on its defense partnership with Pakistan.”
