Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has warned that any Indian aggression against Pakistan would result in losses greater than those witnessed during the 1965 war, as he voiced strong condemnation of Israeli actions in Gaza and declared unwavering support for the Palestinian people.
Addressing a large crowd at the “National Solidarity with Palestine Conference” held at Minar-e-Pakistan, Maulana Fazlur Rehman paid tribute to the resilience of the Palestinian people. “Their sacrifices for freedom and the defense of their homeland are commendable. Whether or not the world stands with them, the people of Pakistan stand shoulder to shoulder with Palestine,” he said.
He criticized international human rights organizations and the United Nations, calling their silence over the killing of children under the guise of “defensive warfare” a grave injustice.
The JUI-F chief called Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu a “war criminal” and demanded his prosecution by the International Criminal Court. “If Saddam Hussein could be hanged for the killing of a few individuals, why is Netanyahu still free despite the massacre of thousands?” he questioned.
Fazlur Rehman lamented the double standards in international law, stating that justice today serves only the powerful, while oppressed nations are left voiceless.
He also commented on the recent attack on unarmed tourists in Pahalgam, calling it tragic, but pointed out that when atrocities are committed against civilians in Gaza, India stands with Israel. “India has long held enmity toward Muslims and now supports Israel’s brutal bombardment of Gaza,” he added.
The address comes amid mounting regional tensions and political maneuvering within Pakistan, with Maulana Fazlur Rehman actively engaging with leaders of both the Pakistan Peoples Party and Pakistan Muslim League (N) in efforts to build a united opposition front.
