Doha(The COW News Digital)Defending champion Mohammad Asif continued his dominant form at the IBSF World Snooker Championship by securing victory in his third group-stage match.

In a thrilling encounter, Asif edged past China’s Pan Yaming with a narrow 4-3 win, maintaining his unbeaten streak in the tournament. Earlier, the Pakistani cueist had defeated Bahrain’s Habib Sabah and Singapore’s Chen Kieng Kuang, winning all three of his group matches. With this perfect record, Asif topped his group and advanced to the next round, keeping his hopes alive for a consecutive championship title.

Speaking after the match, Asif expressed confidence and focus on the knockout stages. “Every match is tough at this level, but I’m playing my best and staying consistent. I’ll prepare well for the next round,” he said.

Pakistan’s Asjad Iqbal also showcased impressive skill, winning his second group match against Iran’s Hamid Zare Doost in another closely contested 4-3 victory. With two wins in hand, Asjad will face Germany’s Alexander Wadau in his final group match on Monday. A victory in this encounter will ensure his progression to the knockout stages alongside Asif.

Meanwhile, Shahid Aftab bounced back from an opening defeat to claim his first win in the tournament. Aftab dominated the Isle of Man’s Darel Hill, securing a 4-1 victory and keeping his chances alive for advancement.
