Islamabad(The COW News Digital)The Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast a new spell of rain and severe weather conditions across Pakistan starting today, warning of possible hailstorms and flash flooding in several regions.
According to the Met Office, a strong western weather system is expected to enter Balochistan on the evening of March 24. The system is likely to intensify after March 27 and may persist until the end of the month, bringing widespread rain, thunderstorms, and gusty winds.
In Balochistan, areas including Gwadar, Turbat, Panjgur, Quetta, and Khuzdar are expected to experience heavy rainfall accompanied by strong winds and occasional hailstorms.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, regions such as Chitral, Swat, Dir, Mansehra, and Abbottabad are likely to receive rain along with snowfall in mountainous areas, increasing the risk of landslides.
The forecast also covers major cities in Punjab, including Lahore, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Multan, as well as Islamabad, where thunderstorms and hail are expected during the forecast period.
In Sindh, cities such as Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, and Larkana are expected to receive rainfall on March 25 and 26, as well as March 28 and 29.
Meanwhile, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir are also likely to experience rain and snowfall, with isolated incidents of hailstorms.
Weather experts have warned of potential flash flooding in Balochistan between March 25 and 28, and in streams and rivers of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from March 28 to 30. There is also a risk of landslides in upper regions due to heavy rainfall and snowfall.
Authorities have advised citizens to take precautionary measures, particularly in vulnerable areas, as the severe weather system could disrupt daily life and pose safety risks.
