India Defeat Namibia by 93 Runs in T20 World Cup Clash

India(The COW News Digital)India secured a commanding 93-run victory over Namibia in the 18th group-stage match of the ICC T20 World Cup, delivering a dominant all-round performance in New Delhi.

Chasing a challenging target of 210 runs, Namibia were bowled out for 116 in 18.2 overs. Despite brief resistance from a few batters, the side struggled to build partnerships against a disciplined Indian bowling attack.

Lohan Louwrens Steenkamp top-scored for Namibia with 29 runs, while Jan Frylinck contributed 22 before being dismissed by Arshdeep Singh. Captain Gerhard Erasmus managed 18 runs before falling to Axar Patel. Jan Nicol Loftie-Eaton added 13, and JJ Smit was dismissed without scoring.

India’s bowlers maintained consistent pressure throughout the innings. Varun Chakaravarthy claimed three wickets, while Axar Patel and Hardik Pandya picked up two wickets each. Arshdeep Singh and Jasprit Bumrah chipped in with one wicket apiece, sealing a comprehensive win for the hosts.

Earlier, Namibia had won the toss and opted to field first at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. India posted an imposing total of 209 for nine in their allotted 20 overs.

Opening the innings, Ishan Kishan played a fluent knock of 61 runs, setting the tone for India’s innings. Hardik Pandya added a valuable 52, providing momentum in the middle overs. Tilak Varma scored 25, while captain Suryakumar Yadav contributed 12 runs.

For Namibia, Erasmus impressed with the ball, claiming four wickets and briefly halting India’s charge. Ben Shikongo took one wicket, but the bowlers were unable to contain the aggressive Indian batting lineup.

India’s victory strengthens their position in the group standings and boosts their net run rate, a crucial factor in tournament progression. The team’s balanced performance with both bat and ball underlined their title credentials.

Namibia, meanwhile, will look to regroup and address areas of concern as they prepare for their remaining fixtures in the tournament.
