Pak-Afghan Tensions Shift National T20 Cup from Peshawar to Rawalpindi

1 Min Read

Due to rising tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan, the National T20 Cup matches originally scheduled at Imran Khan Cricket Stadium have been moved to Rawalpindi.

Sources indicate that while the relocation affects the main fixtures, the Peshawar stadium will still host the semi-finals and final matches. The decision comes as a precautionary measure in light of the ongoing diplomatic and security concerns along the border.

Earlier, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman had approved Peshawar’s stadium as a venue for the National T20 Cup during a visit to the city. However, officials cited regional security considerations as the reason for the venue change.

Cricket authorities emphasize that player safety and smooth conduct of the tournament remain the top priority. The matches in Rawalpindi are expected to proceed without disruption, ensuring fans and teams experience a safe and competitive tournament.
