Islamabad(The COW News Digital)Security sources confirmed on Sunday that Pakistan’s intelligence-based airstrikes in Afghanistan destroyed seven Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and Fitna Al-Khawarij (FAK) camps across Nangarhar, Paktika, and Khost provinces, killing more than 80 militants, with casualties expected to rise.

The targeted facilities included New Center No. 1 and No. 2, Molvi Abbas Center, Islam Center, Ibrahim Center, Mullah Rahbar Center, and Mukhlis Yar Center. Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry said nearly 70 militants were neutralized in coordinated strikes along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, forming part of a broader campaign against cross-border militancy.

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting described the operations as “precise and accurate,” emphasizing that the strikes were a retaliatory response to recent suicide attacks in Islamabad, Bajaur, and Bannu. Security officials said most of the slain militants were Pakistani nationals affiliated with banned groups, including FAK and Daesh-Khorasan.

Operations targeted hideouts in Nangarhar’s Khogyani district, Paktika’s Barmal area, and border areas such as Ghani Khel, Behsud, and Argoon. Chaudhry highlighted that Pakistan has conducted nearly 70,000 intelligence-based operations nationwide, resulting in arrests and the elimination of militants, stressing the state’s commitment to protect its citizens.

Chaudhry criticized Afghanistan’s interim government for failing to uphold the 2020 Doha Agreement, which obliges the Afghan Taliban to prevent Afghan territory from being used for terrorism against other countries. He also noted that the United Nations has documented more than two dozen militant groups operating in Afghanistan.

Tensions between Islamabad and Kabul have increased since the Taliban regained power in 2021, with Pakistan accusing the Afghan government of not preventing cross-border attacks, while the Taliban deny such claims.

Pakistan reiterated its intent to continue decisive actions against security threats while maintaining its role as a responsible neighbor, hosting millions of Afghan refugees and providing economic support despite domestic challenges.
