India(The COW News Digital)Pakistan may agree to play its T20 World Cup match against India under certain conditions, with the final decision resting with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, sources say. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has been engaged in intensive discussions with the International Cricket Council (ICC) and other cricket boards to explore possible solutions that could allow the match to proceed.
Initially, the Pakistani government had directed the PCB to participate in the T20 World Cup but refrain from playing against India, citing political sensitivities. In recent talks, ICC Vice Chairman Imran Khawaja visited Lahore to meet PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, aiming to persuade Pakistan to reconsider its stance. The discussions also included Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Aminul Islam, who joined the meeting in person, while the Sri Lankan and Emirates cricket boards participated via video link.
According to sources, the PCB has communicated clearly to the ICC that the government of Pakistan will make the ultimate decision. Imran Khawaja assured ICC board members that Pakistan’s position has been formally presented. PCB officials also indicated that if required, Mohsin Naqvi may meet Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday to discuss the matter further.

The talks reportedly focused on several conditions Pakistan may seek to secure before agreeing to play India, including financial considerations, annual revenue increases, and ensuring fair scheduling. The ICC’s delegation reportedly came to Pakistan on its own initiative to facilitate the dialogue.
The negotiations follow several days of back-and-forth meetings, including prior talks between the ICC, PCB, and BCB, which lasted several hours over multiple sessions. Sources suggest a potential breakthrough could be announced within 24 hours if all parties reach an agreement.
This development reflects the high stakes surrounding the Pakistan-India T20 World Cup match, as cricket boards and governments balance sporting interests with diplomatic and public sensitivities. Fans and officials alike are watching closely, awaiting a final decision that could impact the tournament schedule and international cricket relations.
