National ( The cow news digital ) The Punjab government has approved strict penalties and enhanced monitoring measures ahead of Eid-ul-Adha, including a fine of Rs50,000 for individuals found dumping animal remains and waste in streets, neighborhoods, and other prohibited public areas.

The decision was taken during a high-level meeting chaired by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, where officials reviewed comprehensive sanitation arrangements for the upcoming religious festival.

According to official details, special vigilance squads have been established across the province to monitor illegal dumping and ensure compliance with cleanliness regulations. These teams will actively patrol urban and rural areas to prevent violations and take immediate action against offenders.

The chief minister also directed authorities to launch a large-scale public awareness campaign to educate citizens about proper disposal methods for animal waste during Eid-ul-Adha. The campaign aims to discourage dumping in drains, streets, canals, and other restricted locations.

During the meeting, which was held via video link, officials presented a detailed plan for ensuring “foolproof” sanitation arrangements across Punjab. The chief minister instructed local administrations to carry out special cleaning operations in drains, canals, commercial markets, and densely populated areas.

She further ordered that cleanliness arrangements must also be ensured in private housing societies, railway colonies, and cantonment areas. Special attention was directed toward 2,687 major commercial markets across the province, which are expected to generate high volumes of waste during Eid shopping and sacrificial activities.

Officials briefed that cleaning operations will begin during the final hours of Chand Raat, focusing on commercial centers, main roads, and public squares. Door-to-door waste collection will be carried out by sanitation teams, while biodegradable bags will be distributed to facilitate proper disposal of sacrificial remains.

The chief minister emphasized a “reward and punishment” system, stating that outstanding cleanliness performance would be recognized, while negligence would face strict accountability.

Authorities said that a unified government approach will be implemented to ensure effective coordination among departments during the Eid period, with the goal of maintaining hygiene and preventing environmental hazards.
