National ( The cow news digital ) The Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast widespread rain and snowfall in various parts of the country over the coming days, signaling a shift in weather patterns due to an incoming system of westerly winds.
According to meteorological experts, several districts across Punjab and the federal capital Islamabad are expected to receive rainfall between April 6 and April 9. Areas likely to be affected include Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum, Chakwal, Sargodha, Mianwali, Khushab, Faisalabad, Lahore, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Narowal, and Sheikhupura.
The weather system is expected to enter the western parts of Balochistan on the evening of April 5 and gradually move towards upper regions, remaining active until April 9. During this period, rain is anticipated in districts such as Panjgur, Gwadar, Pasni, Turbat, Khuzdar, Kalat, Quetta, and Zhob between April 5 and April 7. Additional areas including Barkhan, Lasbela, Kohlu, and Nasirabad may also experience precipitation.
In Sindh, isolated thunderstorms with rainfall are expected on April 6 in Sukkur, Larkana, Dadu, Jacobabad, and Shikarpur. Weather officials have advised residents to remain cautious during periods of heavy rain and possible thunderstorms.
Meanwhile, colder regions are likely to witness a combination of rain and snowfall. In Gilgit-Baltistan, districts such as Astore, Skardu, Gilgit, Hunza, Nagar, and Ghizer are expected to receive precipitation, with snowfall predicted in mountainous areas. Similarly, parts of Azad Kashmir including Bagh, Rawalakot, and Neelum Valley are also forecast to experience rain along with snowfall at higher altitudes.
The Meteorological Department noted that the incoming weather system is part of a seasonal pattern driven by westerly disturbances, which often bring rain and snow to northern and western regions of the country during this time of year.
