Pakistan’s National Computer Emergency Response Team (National CERT) has issued an official advisory denying widespread rumors about the shutdown of ATMs and online banking services. The advisory confirmed that there has been no reported cyberattack affecting financial infrastructure and that all banking operations remain fully functional.
In response to rising speculation linked to heightened Pakistan-India tensions and fears of a potential cyberwar, the National CERT emphasized that both financial institutions and their cybersecurity teams are on high alert, but no disruptions have occurred.
The advisory cautioned the public against falling for misleading social media posts and unverified reports. “No ATM is offline, and there has been no credible threat or cyberattack reported,” the statement read.
The State Bank of Pakistan also reaffirmed that the country’s banking system is operating normally and securely.
National CERT urged users not to share ATM card details or banking credentials with anyone, warning of an increased risk of scams. Consumers are advised to avoid clicking on suspicious links and to rely solely on verified sources for information.
Authorities are closely monitoring the situation to ensure cybersecurity and public trust in digital financial services remain intact.
