Ambassador Iftikhar highlighted that the plan brings new hope for peace in Gaza. Pakistan actively participated in the negotiations and supported proposals from Arab nations, while also contributing its own recommendations to the resolution.
He stressed that Pakistan’s ultimate objective remains the establishment of a Palestinian state based on the pre-1967 borders, with Jerusalem as its capital. “The Gaza plan provides an opportunity for peace, and we are committed to a solution that upholds the rights and security of Palestinians,” he added.
The U.S. Ambassador to the UN expressed gratitude to countries that supported the resolution, including Pakistan, Egypt, Qatar, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Turkey, and Indonesia. “This is a historic and constructive resolution for the stability of Gaza,” the ambassador said, highlighting the importance of coordinated international action.
The resolution outlines measures for deploying an international stabilization force in Gaza and establishing a transitional government to oversee governance and security. The adoption of the resolution signals strong multilateral support for U.S.-led efforts to manage the conflict and mitigate humanitarian crises in the region.
Diplomats note that Pakistan’s position underscores its commitment to a fair and sustainable peace process in the Middle East, focusing on protecting civilian lives while promoting dialogue and a long-term resolution. The coming months will be critical as international stakeholders work to implement the resolution and ensure stability in Gaza.
Pakistan’s support for the Gaza plan highlights its active role in UN deliberations and its ongoing advocacy for Palestinian rights, signaling a diplomatic push for both immediate humanitarian relief and the eventual creation of a sovereign Palestinian state.
