New York( The COW News Digital) Pakistan delivered a sharp rebuttal to Israel during a heated United Nations Security Council session on Qatar, strongly condemning what it described as Tel Aviv’s attempt to distort facts and deflect attention from its own violations of international law.

Responding to remarks by the Israeli representative, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, said Israel had once again misused the Council’s platform and insulted its sanctity.

“It is both unacceptable and absurd that an aggressor, an occupying power that has consistently violated the UN Charter and international law, should lecture others in this chamber,” Ambassador Ahmad declared.

He stressed that Israel has a pattern of deflecting criticism by hurling baseless accusations at others. “This is not new. Pointing fingers is nothing more than an attempt to conceal its own unlawful actions and blatant defiance of international law,” he added.

The Pakistani envoy accused Israel of ignoring not only the advice of the international community but also that of its remaining allies. “It intimidates the media, human rights organizations, humanitarian agencies, the International Court of Justice, and the International Criminal Court. It even threatens senior UN officials — and all without fear of accountability,” he said.

Ambassador Ahmad further argued that Israel, like all occupying powers, plays the victim card while continuing aggression against others. “But today it stands fully exposed before the world,” he noted.

Highlighting decades of debate in the UN over the Middle East and the Palestinian question, Ahmad said: “We are here again and again because of one reason alone: Israel’s refusal to end its illegal occupation and its blatant disregard for this Council’s resolutions.”

He also dismissed Israel’s attempt to link unrelated incidents with Pakistan. “Israel’s misleading remarks about Pakistan are nothing but an attempt to justify its own illegal actions. Pakistan’s stance on that matter is clear and publicly known. The international community recognizes Pakistan’s frontline role and sacrifices in the global fight against terrorism,” Ahmad emphasized.

The Council session, convened in the aftermath of the deadly strike on Doha, highlighted growing tensions in the Middle East. Pakistan’s strong remarks added weight to the calls for accountability, sovereignty, and respect for international law in dealing with regional conflicts.
