In a rare show of unity, lawmakers from across Pakistan’s political spectrum came together in the Senate to condemn India’s recent threats following the Pahalgam incident, declaring full support for the armed forces and national sovereignty.
During a session chaired by Deputy Chairman Senate Syedal Khan Nasir, both government and opposition senators suspended the formal agenda to express solidarity in the face of what they called “aggressive and baseless provocations” by New Delhi.
Lawmakers declared that Pakistan is a sovereign nuclear state and any hostile intentions toward it would be met with a firm and fitting response. “If anyone casts an evil eye on Pakistan, they will be dealt with accordingly,” the senators warned in a collective voice.
PML-N parliamentary leader Senator Irfan Siddiqui accused India of staging a false flag operation to coincide with the visit of the U.S. Vice President, attempting to portray Pakistan as responsible for the Pahalgam incident. “It is absurd to claim Pakistan’s involvement when the attack site is 200 kilometers from our Line of Control,” he stated.
Senator Ali Zafar of PTI warned of India’s attempts to cut off Pakistan’s water supply, calling it “a form of state terrorism.” He further condemned India’s move to revoke water-sharing treaties, labeling it illegal and provocative. “India must remember Pakistan is a nuclear power,” he said.
Leader of the Opposition Shibli Faraz cautioned against underestimating the seriousness of the water issue, stating, “This is not mere political rhetoric—it is an act of war.”
BAP Senator Manzoor Kakar hailed the cross-party unity as a sign of national strength. “Today’s solidarity demonstrates that when it comes to Pakistan’s stability and sovereignty, all parties stand together.”
Senator Faisal Vawda proposed that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif convene a joint meeting of all political leaders, stressing, “The nation is united behind the Pakistan Army. Our army chief is brave and confident—there is nothing to fear.”
The session sent a powerful message of internal cohesion at a time of heightened regional tension, underscoring the resolve of Pakistan’s political leadership to defend national security.
