Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir has reaffirmed that any challenge to the country’s sovereignty or territorial integrity will be met with a powerful response.
During a speech at the National Security Workshop at the General Headquarters (GHQ), General Munir emphasized that Pakistan desires peace in the region but would not hesitate to defend its sovereignty. He reiterated that any violation of Pakistan’s territorial integrity would prompt a robust military response to safeguard the nation’s dignity and security.
He also spoke about the government’s ongoing efforts to improve the socio-economic situation in Balochistan, noting that several development projects have already begun to show positive outcomes for the local population. He praised the role of civil society in raising awareness among Baloch youth and highlighted the importance of their involvement in the province’s progress.
General Munir stressed that foreign-sponsored terrorism remains the biggest threat to Balochistan’s security and development. He warned that elements attempting to incite violence and destabilize the region would not succeed in their malicious intentions.
He further condemned the terrorist groups operating under the guise of promoting Baloch identity, calling them a stain on Baloch honor and patriotism. “Terrorism knows no religion, sect, or ethnicity. It should be combated with unwavering national unity,” he stated.
The Army Chief concluded by reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to regional peace, adding that the country’s armed forces, with the full support of law enforcement agencies and the people of Pakistan, will continue their fight against terrorism.
