Former Foreign Secretary Aziz Chaudhry stated that Pakistan’s diplomatic position is notably stronger this time, with increased international recognition. He attributed this to India’s weakening stance on the issue.
Chaudhry emphasized that India’s diplomatic front is now much weaker, mainly because they have instigated excessive expectations among their people. He added, “India has fueled aggressive sentiments within its population, leading them to expect that war will be imposed on Pakistan. However, no country is willing to support them in this regard.”
Former Federal Minister Fawad Chaudhry also pointed out that for the past ten years, an extremist government has been in power in India, which has targeted the media and blackmailed liberal journalists. He highlighted how figures like Arnab Goswami were promoted, and the term “Godi Media” was coined. He further stated that this situation had begun long before the recent elections. “Interviews with Kashmiris and Punjabis reflect the fear that has been instilled in them,” he said.
Analyst Shahbaz Rana commented on the suspension of the Indus Basin Treaty by India, describing it as an illegal move that will have no immediate impact on Pakistan. He noted that the suspension would not affect Pakistan negatively during the current U.S. administration.
Regarding trade, Rana pointed out that India’s actions, including trade restrictions, are symbolic and cosmetic measures. “Direct trade between Pakistan and India has not occurred since 2019, except for a few essential items like pharmaceuticals and chemicals. The rest of the trade is conducted via Dubai,” he explained.
