Pakistan’s Economic Progress Highlighted at Harvard Conference, FM

A prominent Pakistan Conference was held at the prestigious Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts, today. The conference saw the participation of policymakers, academicians, business leaders, and students who engaged in discussions about Pakistan’s recent economic achievements, governance reforms, and its rising global role.

Federal Finance Minister Mohammad Aurangzeb, Pakistan’s Ambassador to the US, Rizwan Saeed Sheikh, and the Consul General of Pakistan in New York, Aamir Ahmed Attozai, were among the key participants at the event.

In his opening remarks, Ambassador Rizwan Saeed Sheikh appreciated the gathering of brilliant minds from various sectors, coming together to deliberate on matters concerning Pakistan. He emphasized Pakistan’s importance due to its size, population, and strategic significance, and called for serious, objective, and constructive dialogue on the country.

Ambassador Sheikh also stressed that in today’s interconnected world, any global development has far-reaching consequences, which further elevates the importance of diplomacy. He pointed out that collective efforts through diplomacy are key to addressing common challenges, highlighting the emerging global landscape that demands more cooperation among nations.

He reiterated that Pakistan is a peaceful nation, with a primary focus on leveraging its geographic position to foster greater economic growth and prosperity.

In his keynote address, Finance Minister Mohammad Aurangzeb presented an overview of Pakistan’s recent economic strides. He highlighted key economic successes, such as a historic low inflation rate of just 0.7%, a significant increase in foreign exchange reserves, currency stabilization, and the achievement of a fiscal surplus after decades.

The Finance Minister emphasized that having achieved economic stability, Pakistan’s focus is now shifting toward long-term economic transformation aimed at building a competitive, inclusive, and sustainable economy.

During the Q&A session, Minister Aurangzeb engaged with participants, answering questions about Pakistan’s financial management, reform measures, and developmental priorities.

The conference also included insightful panel discussions on topics such as economic modernization, regional stability, and the capacity to address climate change challenges. Distinguished speakers from various fields shared their views on the opportunities and challenges facing Pakistan.

A cultural event was also organized, showcasing Pakistan’s rich and diverse heritage.

The Harvard Pakistan Conference served as a vital platform to present Pakistan’s economic potential, reform agenda, and positive outlook to a global audience. It provided an opportunity to strengthen Pakistan’s ties with international academic and political institutions while promoting the narrative of the country’s potential, available opportunities, and future progress.
