World ( The cow news digital )A series of petitions related to the 190 million pound corruption case are scheduled to be heard today in the Islamabad High Court.

The case involves appeals for suspension of sentences filed by former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi, along with a counter-application submitted by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) challenging the requests for suspension.

The hearing will be conducted by Chief Justice Sardar Muhammad Sarfraz Dogar and Justice Muhammad Asif at the Islamabad High Court.

The 190 million pound case, also widely referred to in political and legal circles as a high-profile accountability reference, has drawn significant public and political attention due to the stature of the individuals involved and the financial magnitude of the allegations.

According to case history, both Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi were sentenced by an accountability court on 17 January 2025. The verdict marked a major development in ongoing legal proceedings linked to alleged misuse of funds and related financial transactions.

Today’s hearing is expected to focus on whether the sentences should remain suspended while the appeals process continues. Legal experts note that such proceedings often determine whether convicted individuals remain in custody or are granted relief during appellate review.

The National Accountability Bureau has opposed the suspension requests, arguing that the convictions were based on substantial evidence and should not be halted at this stage. On the other hand, the defense team has maintained that the convictions are legally and factually contestable and require further judicial scrutiny.
