National ( The cow news digital ) PESHAWAR – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has officially announced a long march toward the federal capital on September 27 to press for the release of party founder Imran Khan and push for its political demands.
The announcement was made during a high-profile party rally in Peshawar, where senior leadership rallied supporters and outlined the party’s upcoming strategy. Addressing a crowd of youth delegates, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi urged supporters to gear up for the movement, emphasizing that the party leadership needs its base now more than ever.
In a passionate address, Afridi lauded the energy of PTI’s youth, countering harsh political rhetoric from opponents. While criticising rival politicians for using derogatory terms against party activists, Afridi likened the youth to Allama Iqbal’s symbolic “Shaheen” (falcons). He further delivered a scathing critique of the federal government, attributing the ongoing economic distress and political instability to poor governance and flawed policies.
PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar also addressed the gathering, expressing frustration over what he described as the state’s unjust treatment of the party. He stated that despite PTI’s consistent commitment to the state and national stability, it has been met with prejudice and harsh crackdowns. Gohar directly challenged the current administration, asserting that the government’s economic promises—often dubbed “Shehbaz Speed”—had failed to deliver while reiterating allegations that PTI’s public mandate was stolen during the general elections.
Adding to the call for action, PTI Khyber Pakhtunkhwa President Junaid Akbar urged internal unity and relentless effort ahead of the September march. He reiterated that securing Imran Khan’s release from Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail and reinstating him as Prime Minister remains the party’s primary political target.
The planned movement signals a renewed confrontation between the opposition party and the coalition government, setting the stage for increased political tension in Islamabad later this month.
