Doha(The COW News Digital) President Asif Ali Zardari arrived in Qatar on a three-day official visit to participate in the Global Social Development Conference, where he is expected to highlight Pakistan’s initiatives in social protection, poverty reduction, and inclusive economic growth.
Upon his arrival at Hamad International Airport, the President was warmly received by senior Qatari officials and Pakistan’s Ambassador to Qatar. A bouquet of flowers was presented to President Zardari as a gesture of welcome and goodwill.
During his visit, President Zardari will represent Pakistan in key sessions of the international conference, which brings together global leaders, policymakers, and experts to discuss strategies for promoting social welfare and sustainable development worldwide.
In his address, the President will shed light on Pakistan’s efforts to enhance social safety nets through programs like the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), a flagship initiative aimed at empowering low-income families and reducing economic disparities. He will also elaborate on Pakistan’s broader agenda to strengthen social protection systems, promote inclusive growth, and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
A major focus of his speech will be on the Doha Alliance for Social Protection and Jobs Compact, a new international initiative designed to coordinate global efforts for improving employment and welfare outcomes. President Zardari is expected to emphasize Pakistan’s commitment to aligning its national development strategies with global objectives such as the SDG Stimulus Plan, while also advocating for increased financial cooperation among developing nations.
In addition to participating in the conference, President Zardari is scheduled to hold meetings with regional and global leaders, as well as representatives of international organizations, to explore opportunities for expanding bilateral and multilateral cooperation in social and economic development.
The visit is being viewed as part of Pakistan’s ongoing efforts to strengthen diplomatic and economic ties with Gulf states, particularly Qatar, which has remained an important partner in trade, investment, and energy collaboration.
President Zardari’s engagements in Doha are expected to reinforce Pakistan’s image as a proactive participant in global social development dialogue and highlight the country’s progress toward achieving inclusive and sustainable prosperity.
