Delhi(The COW News Digital) Indian opposition leader Rahul Gandhi has criticized the recent state elections in Bihar, calling the process unfair from the very beginning. His comments came after the ruling alliance secured a decisive victory, leaving the Congress party and its allies with a significantly smaller share of seats.
Speaking to the media, Gandhi expressed surprise at the election results and questioned the overall fairness of the process. “We could not achieve victory in an election that was not fair from the start,” he stated, emphasizing that the opposition intends to scrutinize the results carefully and learn lessons for future political strategies.
The elections in Bihar saw the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA), led by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its key ally Janata Dal (United), achieve a sweeping majority. Out of 243 assembly seats, the NDA won 203, while the opposition alliance, including the Congress-led Mahagathbandhan (MGB), secured 34 seats. Other smaller parties managed to capture just 6 seats.
Rahul Gandhi reiterated that his political fight is centered on defending the Constitution and safeguarding democracy. He stated that the opposition would intensify its efforts to strengthen democratic practices in India and ensure that citizens’ voices are fairly represented in electoral processes.
The Congress leader also highlighted the need for a detailed review of the election mechanisms and voter experiences in Bihar. “This is not just about winning or losing; it is about ensuring the integrity of our democratic system,” he remarked. Gandhi added that the party would work to enhance public awareness and address systemic issues in upcoming elections.
Political analysts note that while the NDA’s victory reflects strong organizational strategy and voter mobilization, concerns raised by Gandhi about fairness may fuel ongoing debates about electoral transparency in India. The Bihar results have prompted discussions on the role of state machinery, media coverage, and campaign conduct during elections.
As the opposition prepares for a post-election review, Gandhi emphasized that their mission is beyond political gain—it is about reinforcing democratic norms and protecting the foundational principles of the Indian Constitution. He concluded that Congress and its allies will continue to work towards creating a more equitable and accountable political landscape.
The Bihar elections mark a significant chapter in India’s regional politics, showcasing both the strengths of the ruling alliance and the challenges faced by opposition parties in a complex electoral environment.
