In a major fallout from the Pahalgam incident, India’s Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA) Director General Lt. Gen. D.S. Rana has been removed from his post following the leak of classified Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) documents. The leak has embarrassed Indian intelligence on the global stage and raised serious questions about the authenticity of India’s narrative surrounding the Pahalgam operation.
According to Indian government investigations, the leaked files—reportedly originating from Gen. Rana’s office—were accessed by The Resistance Front (TRF), a militant group that subsequently exposed the documents to international media. The disclosures revealed fabricated operations and exposed the role of Indian military and security agencies in staging high-level false flag events.
The scandal has severely undermined India’s credibility, with the leak casting doubt on the official account of the Pahalgam attack and putting the Modi government in a difficult position internationally.
As disciplinary action, Gen. Rana has been reassigned to the remote and harsh military outpost of Andaman and Nicobar Islands—known for its isolation, limited medical facilities, and challenging conditions. The transfer is widely seen as a humiliating demotion and a signal of the Indian leadership’s intent to contain further damage.
Analysts say the move not only discredits RAW’s internal security protocols but also increases pressure on Indian military and intelligence officials already under scrutiny amid heightened regional tensions.
