According to security sources, on the night between December 17 and 18, security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation in Tank district after receiving information about the presence of militants.
During the successful operation, the most-wanted militant leader, Ali Rehman alias Maulana Taha Swati, was killed, and seven militants were neutralized.
Security sources revealed that Ali Rehman alias Maulana Taha Swati was a close associate of the notorious leader of the Khorasani faction, Mufti Fazlullah. This terrorist had joined the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in 2010 and was a significant leader in the Shura. He was also a close companion of the leader, Qari Amjad alias Mufti Muzahim.
During the operation, one militant entered a house and took two children hostage in a room. The terrorist attempted to escape by wearing a woman’s dress and used the children as shields. However, the forces successfully rescued the children and killed the terrorist.
Local residents expressed their gratitude to the Pakistan Army for the safe recovery of the children and praised their efforts. A vehicle loaded with weapons and explosives was also recovered from the militants, which was intended for a major terrorist attack. Previously, key leaders of the Khorasani faction had been killed in successful operations.
Security sources noted that the continuous deaths of militants on Pakistani soil expose the strong alliance between the Khorasani faction and the Afghan Taliban. Pakistan has provided credible evidence regarding this alliance to the Afghan interim government several times, but no action has been taken. The alliance between the Afghan Taliban and the Khorasani faction poses a serious threat to global and regional peace.
