Bollywood actress Sonakshi Sinha has criticized Indian media outlets for spreading false news, calling them a “joke.” Her comments come after several Indian news channels aired misleading reports that Pakistan had launched attacks on occupied Kashmir and other parts of India. Pakistan swiftly denied any such attacks.
The false reports were widely circulated across Indian news platforms, including Aaj Tak, Times Now, India TV, and Republic TV, all of which broadcasted exaggerated claims of attacks. In their competition to outdo each other in sensationalism, these channels aired fake videos and fabricated news, which were quickly debunked.
By the next morning, social media users in India were demanding proof from the media, exposing the misinformation. As the media’s credibility collapsed, memes mocking the false claims flooded social media.
Sonakshi Sinha, known for her outspoken views, took to her social media to call out the media, urging the public to stop watching the sensationalized news. “Our news channels are a joke,” she wrote, adding, “I’m tired of these dramatic scenes and shouting. What does the Indian media hope to achieve with all this noise? Stop creating panic and confusion.”
Meanwhile, Indian citizens also voiced their frustration with the media, accusing them of spreading lies and undermining journalistic integrity. Many expressed disbelief at the media’s disregard for ethical reporting, calling it a national embarrassment. Some even questioned why those responsible for such false reporting had not been held accountable.
