The Trump administration has officially frozen billions of dollars in federal aid to Harvard University, marking a significant escalation in tensions between the institution and the U.S. government.
The U.S. Department of Education informed Harvard University of the decision, halting the funding allocated for research and other initiatives. The move follows previous demands by the administration that were not met by the university.
The Trump administration has made it clear that the funding will remain suspended until the university complies with certain demands. Earlier, the administration froze Harvard’s federal aid due to the university’s refusal to meet specific conditions.

In March, the Trump administration announced it was reviewing nearly $256 million in federal contracts and an additional $8.7 billion in grant promises, after Harvard failed to take sufficient action against anti-Semitic behavior on campus.
Tensions between the administration and Harvard intensified when the university refused to accept government interference in its academic and administrative affairs, unlike other institutions that had complied with similar requests.
