The United States has stepped in amid rising tensions between Pakistan and India following the recent Pahalgam incident, calling on both nuclear-armed neighbors to exercise restraint and engage in peaceful dialogue.
Speaking at a press briefing in Washington, State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce expressed deep concern over the growing hostility in South Asia. “We are closely monitoring the escalating situation between Pakistan and India,” Bruce told reporters.
She confirmed that the Trump administration is in continuous contact with both governments and has urged them to de-escalate tensions through diplomatic means.
“In light of the current circumstances, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio is expected to hold direct conversations with the leadership of both countries later today,” Bruce added.
The State Department further stated that global leaders have been encouraged to engage with both Islamabad and New Delhi to help ease the crisis. “We have advised world leaders to reach out to the leadership of Pakistan and India during this sensitive time,” Bruce said.
She emphasized that the United States remains committed to regional stability and peaceful conflict resolution. “We urge both sides to seek a solution through dialogue and mutual understanding,” she concluded.
The renewed focus from Washington underscores international concern that the situation could spiral into a broader conflict if not addressed promptly through diplomacy.
