The United States has made it clear that it will not intervene in a potential conflict between India and Pakistan unless its own interests are directly at stake. In a candid interview, U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance stated that America will not get involved in a war that offers no tangible benefit to the country.
Speaking on the rising tensions in South Asia, Vance emphasized that Washington maintains a consistent position on hostilities between the two nuclear-armed neighbors. “The United States will not directly involve itself in this conflict,” he said.
Commenting on the current situation, Vance added, “India launched the first strike and Pakistan responded. Now, both sides need to approach the matter with cool heads. This conflict must not escalate into a nuclear war, as the consequences would be catastrophic.”
He further clarified that while the U.S. is concerned about the situation, there is currently no definitive indication that the confrontation between India and Pakistan is heading toward a nuclear exchange.
The remarks come a day after U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio held a phone conversation with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. During the call, Rubio reiterated that the U.S. is closely monitoring the situation in South Asia.
Rubio assured the Pakistani leadership that the United States remains fully committed to promoting peace and stability in the region.
