Retired Lieutenant Colonel and U.S. Congressman Keith Self has cautioned that a war between nuclear-armed neighbors India and Pakistan is beyond imagination and must be avoided at all costs.
Speaking on rising regional tensions, Congressman Self emphasized, “A conflict between two nuclear powers cannot be imagined — once war begins, it becomes impossible to control.”
Echoing similar concerns, Democratic Congressman and retired Lieutenant General Jack Bergman stressed the need for the United States to work in coordination with like-minded democratic nations to prevent escalation and strategic failures in the region.
The remarks from both lawmakers come amid heightened rhetoric and increased friction between India and Pakistan, with international observers urging restraint and diplomacy.
