World Bank OKs $20B Concessional Loan for Pakistan

ISLAMABAD:( The COW News Digital)-The World Bank will provide Pakistan with a concessional loan of $20 billion, with an interest rate of just 2 percent and a tenor of 10 years.

The loan will be spent on six key areas: environmental protection, poverty reduction, health, education, improving child development and inclusive growth. Clean energy, improving air quality and promoting private investment are also part of the plan. The loan is part of a ten-year Country Partnership Framework. Another $20 billion will be provided to the private sector through the IFC, bringing the total volume to $40 billion.
