The 92-year-old legendary singer was taken to Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai on Saturday, where she is currently under medical observation. Her hospitalization has raised concern among fans and members of the Indian music industry.
The news of her condition was first shared by her granddaughter, Zanai Bhosle, on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter. In her post, she confirmed that Asha Bhosle was admitted due to severe exhaustion and a chest-related infection.
She also requested privacy for the family during this time, stating that the veteran singer is receiving proper medical care and that the family remains hopeful about her recovery. She added that updates regarding her health would be shared when appropriate.
Asha Bhosle is widely regarded as one of the most iconic voices in Indian cinema, having recorded thousands of songs across multiple languages during her decades-long career. Her contribution to Bollywood music has earned her global recognition and numerous prestigious awards.
In 2000, she was honored with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, India’s highest award in cinema, and in 2008 she received the Padma Vibhushan, the country’s second-highest civilian award.
