National ( The cow news digital ) Senior journalist and analyst Hamid Mir has strongly defended Pakistan’s diplomatic role in the recent ceasefire between the United States and Iran, rejecting attempts by sections of Indian media to downplay Islamabad’s contribution.
Speaking during a televised discussion, Mir stated that Pakistan acted as an independent and proactive mediator, playing a constructive role in easing tensions between the two countries. He emphasized that the diplomatic efforts led by Pakistan were not symbolic but practical and effective in facilitating dialogue.
Mir pointed to remarks made by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi as evidence of Tehran’s confidence in Islamabad. According to him, the acknowledgment of Pakistan’s role reflects a high level of trust and appreciation from Iran, reinforcing the country’s credibility as a mediator in complex geopolitical situations.
The journalist further highlighted that Pakistan’s diplomatic outreach was also recognized by Washington, indicating that both sides viewed Islamabad’s involvement positively. He credited Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir for their coordinated efforts in promoting dialogue and reducing the risk of further escalation in the region.
Mir criticized what he described as attempts by Indian television channels to undermine Pakistan’s role, stating that such narratives fail to acknowledge the ground realities of diplomatic engagement. He argued that Pakistan’s balanced and neutral stance enabled it to communicate effectively with both Tehran and Washington at a critical moment.
The ceasefire, which came after a period of heightened tensions, has been widely seen as a significant diplomatic development. Analysts note that Pakistan’s involvement highlights its growing relevance in regional and international diplomacy, particularly in conflict resolution.
Observers believe that Islamabad’s ability to maintain relations with multiple global actors places it in a unique position to facilitate dialogue in volatile situations. The development also underscores the importance of diplomatic channels in preventing conflicts from escalating into full-scale wars.
As discussions continue toward a long-term agreement, Pakistan’s role is likely to remain under international focus, with its mediation efforts being closely evaluated by global stakeholders.
