Islamabad(The COW News Digital)Investigations into the deadly suicide bombing at an Imambargah in Islamabad have entered a critical phase as law enforcement agencies arrested close relatives of the attacker following raids in Peshawar.

According to police and investigation sources, the suicide attack took place during Friday prayers, killing at least 32 worshippers and leaving dozens injured. The blast sent shockwaves across the country and prompted an immediate security alert in the federal capital and surrounding areas.

Officials confirmed that a raid was conducted at the attacker’s residence in Peshawar, where two brothers of the suicide bomber and a woman were taken into custody for questioning. Authorities believe the arrests may help uncover the network behind the attack, including facilitators and possible handlers.

Investigators revealed that an identity card recovered from the blast site played a key role in identifying the attacker. Based on the recovered documents, the suicide bomber was identified as Yasir. His permanent address, as listed on the identity card, is Abbas Colony near Shiro Jhangi, Charsadda Road, Peshawar, while his current residence was reported to be in Ganj Mohalla Qazian, Peshawar.

Security officials stated that preliminary investigations have uncovered that the attacker had remained in Afghanistan for nearly five months prior to carrying out the attack. During this period, he reportedly received training in handling weapons and executing suicide missions. Authorities are now working to determine the exact locations where the training took place and the individuals or groups involved.

Sources within the investigation team said the detained suspects are being interrogated to establish their level of involvement, if any, and to trace logistical support provided to the attacker. Law enforcement agencies are also analyzing communication records and travel history to identify potential links to militant networks.

The Islamabad Imambargah attack has once again raised serious concerns over security and cross-border militancy. Officials have assured the public that all possible measures are being taken to bring those responsible to justice and to prevent similar incidents in the future.

Meanwhile, security has been tightened across sensitive religious sites in Islamabad and other major cities, while intelligence-based operations continue to dismantle militant infrastructure.

Authorities have emphasized that investigations are ongoing and further arrests may be made as new leads emerge.
