Police Officer Killed as Ride Collapses at Fair in India

Haryana, India:(The COW News Digital) A police officer was killed and at least 13 people were injured after a giant amusement ride collapsed at a fair in the Indian state of Haryana.

According to Indian media, the incident occurred on Sunday evening during the Surajkund Fair in Faridabad, where a large swing ride suddenly crashed to the ground, causing panic among visitors.

The deceased police officer has been identified as Inspector Jagdish Prasad, who was on duty at the fair at the time of the accident. He was rushed to a nearby hospital immediately after the incident, where doctors pronounced him dead. Reports say the officer was only a few weeks away from retirement.

Following the accident, District Magistrate Ayush Sinha reached the site and coordinated rescue operations in collaboration with relevant departments. All injured individuals were shifted to hospitals for medical treatment, while the fairground was evacuated as a precautionary measure.

Authorities have ordered a thorough investigation into the incident to determine the cause of the ride’s collapse and to identify any negligence involved.

The condition of several injured individuals is reported to be stable, while security measures at the fair have been tightened.
