Riyadh(The COW News Digital) Saudi Arabia has reaffirmed its support for peaceful efforts to resolve tensions between the United States and Iran, emphasizing that its principled stance on regional stability remains unchanged. A senior Saudi official said the Kingdom continues to back dialogue and diplomacy as the only viable path to reducing escalating tensions in the Middle East.

The Saudi official on Sunday rejected reports circulated by some US media outlets claiming that Riyadh had pressured Washington to take military action against Iran. Describing such reports as inaccurate, the official stressed that Saudi Arabia has consistently opposed any steps that could further destabilize the region or lead to armed conflict.

In a statement published by the Saudi-owned newspaper Asharq Al-Awsat, the official said the Kingdom remains committed to supporting initiatives aimed at a peaceful settlement of disputes between Tehran and Washington. He noted that Saudi Arabia believes open communication, confidence-building measures, and diplomatic engagement are essential to preventing confrontation and safeguarding regional security.

The official made it clear that Saudi Arabia does not support the use of its airspace or territory for any military action against Iran. This position, he said, reflects the Kingdom’s broader policy of non-escalation and respect for the sovereignty of states, as well as its desire to avoid being drawn into conflicts that could have far-reaching consequences for the region.

The remarks come amid heightened tensions between the United States and Iran, including increased military deployments and sharp political rhetoric. Regional observers say Gulf states are particularly concerned about the risk of miscalculation that could trigger a wider conflict, disrupting energy markets and threatening regional stability.

The Saudi official also revealed that Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman held a telephone conversation with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian earlier this week. During the call, the Crown Prince reiterated Saudi Arabia’s respect for Iran’s sovereignty and emphasized the Kingdom’s interest in maintaining stable and constructive relations with all regional countries.

Analysts view the call as part of ongoing efforts to preserve the diplomatic rapprochement between Saudi Arabia and Iran that began in recent years. Improved ties between the two regional rivals are seen as a key factor in reducing tensions across the Middle East, particularly in conflict-prone areas.

Saudi Arabia has repeatedly called for restraint and dialogue in regional disputes, positioning itself as a supporter of political solutions rather than military confrontation. Officials say the Kingdom will continue to work with international and regional partners to promote de-escalation and stability.

As uncertainty persists around US-Iran relations, Saudi Arabia’s reaffirmation of its diplomatic stance highlights its intent to play a stabilizing role in the region, encouraging peaceful engagement over force at a time of heightened geopolitical risk.
