Karachi(The COW News Digital)Former Pakistan cricket team captain Shahid Khan Afridi has strongly condemned the recent suicide bombing in Islamabad and called for immediate and decisive measures to eliminate terrorism, questioning the effectiveness of repeated condemnatory statements.

In a message shared on social media, Afridi expressed deep grief over the loss of innocent lives in the Islamabad attack and highlighted the growing intensity of terrorist violence across the country. Referring to recent attacks in Balochistan and the federal capital, Afridi said that militants continue to carry out brutal acts against innocent civilians without facing effective resistance.

“Terrorism is intensifying with each passing day,” Afridi stated. “How long can this cycle continue? How long will we rely only on condemnations and social media statements?” he questioned, echoing the frustration felt by many across the country.

The former cricketer emphasized that symbolic responses were no longer enough and urged state institutions to take concrete and transparent action. He stressed the need for a unified national strategy to counter terrorism and restore public confidence.

Afridi also demanded that evidence of foreign involvement in terrorist activities, which is frequently mentioned by officials, should be presented openly before the nation. He said the public must be taken into confidence so that necessary decisions can be made collectively to eradicate terrorism.

“If there is proof of external interference, it should be shared with the nation,” Afridi said, adding that only a transparent and decisive approach could help bring lasting peace.

His remarks came in the wake of a deadly suicide attack at the Khadijat-ul-Kubra Mosque and Imambargah in the Tarlai area of Islamabad. The explosion occurred during prayers, killing at least 32 worshippers and injuring more than 150 others. The incident has sparked nationwide outrage and renewed concerns over security lapses.

Afridi’s statement resonated widely on social media, with many users endorsing his call for action rather than rhetoric. Several commentators noted that voices from across society, including public figures and sports personalities, are increasingly demanding accountability and firm counterterrorism measures.

The former captain has previously spoken out on national issues and has often used his platform to advocate for peace and unity. His latest remarks have added momentum to the ongoing debate over how Pakistan should confront the resurgence of militant violence.

As the country mourns yet another tragic loss of life, Afridi’s message underscores a growing demand for decisive steps to ensure the safety of citizens and prevent further bloodshed.
