PARIS:(The COW News Digital)he 1939 comic book Superman #1 has set a new record by selling for a staggering $912,000, making it the most expensive comic book ever sold. Previously, this record was held by Action Comics #1, which sold for $600,000 in 2024.
According to Heritage Auctions, the rare comic was discovered in a Northern California family’s home while they were cleaning out the attic of their late mother. It had been stored in a cardboard box alongside old newspapers.

When the historic issue was submitted to CGC, the world’s largest third-party grading service, it received an astonishing grade of 9 out of 10. This makes it the best-preserved copy of Superman #1 known to exist and one of only seven copies graded 6.0 or higher.
Its exceptional grading and rare condition helped the comic achieve a record-breaking price at Thursday’s auction, solidifying its status as the world’s most valuable comic book
