Tarouba ( The COW News Digital)The West Indies delivered a crushing blow to Pakistan’s cricketing pride, clinching a historic ODI series victory after 34 years with a thumping 202-run win in the third and final match at Tarouba. This dominant performance sealed the series 2-1, marking a remarkable comeback for the Caribbean side.

Chasing a target of 295, Pakistan’s batting lineup crumbled spectacularly, folding for just 92 runs in 29.4 overs — one of their lowest totals in recent years. Vice-captain Agha Salman top-scored with a modest 30, while Mohammad Nawaz remained unbeaten on 23. No other batter managed to cross double figures apart from Hasan Nawaz, who scored 13. Captain Mohammad Rizwan, Abdullah Shafique, Saim Ayub, Hasan Ali, and Abrar Ahmed were all dismissed without scoring, highlighting a complete batting collapse.

West Indies fast bowler Jayden Seales spearheaded the destruction, claiming an exceptional 6-wicket haul for just 19 runs. Gudakesh Motie supported with two wickets, while Roston Chase picked up one, leaving Pakistan’s batting in tatters.

Earlier, West Indies posted an imposing total of 294 for 6 in their allotted 50 overs after being put into bat. Skipper Shai Hope led from the front with a magnificent unbeaten century, scoring 120 off 94 balls, anchoring the innings with his trademark calm and precision. Evin Lewis contributed 37, Roston Chase added 36, while Justin Greaves smashed an explosive 43 off just 24 balls in the closing overs to propel the hosts to a commanding score.

For Pakistan, Abrar Ahmed and Naseem Shah took two wickets each, while Mohammad Nawaz and Saim Ayub chipped in with one apiece. However, their bowling efforts were overshadowed by the complete failure of the batting order in the run chase.

This series victory is West Indies’ first against Pakistan in ODIs since 1991, making it a moment of immense pride for the Caribbean cricketing fraternity. The win also signals a potential resurgence for the team in the 50-over format, especially as they prepare for future ICC tournaments.

For Pakistan, the humiliating defeat raises serious concerns about batting depth, consistency, and temperament under pressure. With major competitions looming, the team’s management faces urgent questions about selection strategy and middle-order stability.
