Mumbai( The COW News Digital) Bollywood megastars Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone have found themselves embroiled in legal trouble after a case was filed against them in connection with advertisements for a luxury car brand. The complaint was lodged in Bharatpur, Rajasthan, where a customer accused the company of selling a defective vehicle promoted by the two stars.

According to Indian media reports, the case was filed by advocate Kirti Singh, who purchased the car in 2022 for INR 23.97 lakh. Singh alleged that within a few months of purchase, the vehicle began experiencing serious technical malfunctions, raising concerns over passenger safety and increasing the risk of accidents.

The complainant claimed that the dealership later confirmed the issue was a manufacturing defect and could not be permanently fixed. Singh stated that the decision to purchase the car was heavily influenced by the promotional campaign featuring Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone, where the duo endorsed the vehicle as “completely trouble-free.”

The First Information Report (FIR) names the two Bollywood icons alongside the car company, arguing that the misleading advertisements persuaded customers to buy a faulty product. The local police have confirmed that the case has been registered and investigations are underway to determine liability.

While neither Shah Rukh Khan nor Deepika Padukone has yet issued an official statement regarding the allegations, industry insiders note that celebrity endorsements often place actors at risk of being implicated in consumer disputes, especially when products fail to deliver on advertised promises.

Legal experts suggest that the case could raise broader questions about responsibility in celebrity endorsements in India. In recent years, consumer rights activists have pushed for stricter regulations to hold both companies and endorsers accountable for misleading advertisements.

Shah Rukh Khan, known as the “King of Bollywood,” and Deepika Padukone, often called the “Queen of Bollywood,” have worked together in numerous blockbuster films. Their association with major brands makes them two of the most sought-after endorsers in the industry. However, this lawsuit marks a rare instance where their star power has landed them in legal complications.

The case is likely to draw widespread media attention as it unfolds, highlighting the intersection of celebrity culture, consumer rights, and corporate accountability in India’s fast-growing luxury market.
