Abu Dhabi(The COW News Digital) The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has announced a two-day public holiday for both government and private sector employees in celebration of the country’s National Day. According to an official statement, the holidays will be observed on Tuesday, December 2, and Wednesday, December 3, 2025.

As the UAE’s weekend falls on Friday and Saturday, the National Day holidays provide private sector employees with a total of four days off over five calendar days. Government employees will also enjoy a four-day break, allowing citizens and residents alike to participate in the festivities and family gatherings.

UAE National Day is celebrated annually on December 2 to commemorate the unification of the seven emirates—Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah, and Fujairah—in 1971. This historic union led to the establishment of the United Arab Emirates as a sovereign nation.

The announcement, reported by regional media, encourages businesses and residents to plan ahead for the upcoming holidays. Across the country, National Day celebrations typically include parades, cultural events, fireworks, and patriotic displays, highlighting the UAE’s rich heritage and achievements over the past five decades.

Officials have urged employers and employees to coordinate work schedules and ensure a smooth transition during the holiday period. The extended break is expected to boost domestic tourism, shopping, and recreational activities, as residents take advantage of the festive season.

National Day also serves as a reminder of the UAE’s rapid development, economic growth, and the efforts of its leaders to foster unity, stability, and progress. It remains one of the most celebrated occasions in the country’s calendar, with schools, businesses, and government institutions observing the holiday with various events and programs.

As December approaches, citizens and expatriates across the UAE are gearing up to honor the nation’s heritage, with the upcoming two-day public holiday providing a perfect opportunity to celebrate together.
