Dhaka, Bangladesh (The COW News Digital) The killing of revolutionary student leader Sharif Osman Hadi has ignited widespread anti-India protests across Bangladesh, with demonstrators targeting ruling party offices and media establishments. The unrest has gripped major cities, particularly the capital, Dhaka, as citizens demand justice and accountability.

According to eyewitnesses, enraged protesters set fire to offices of the Awami League and several media organizations, while blocking major roads and clashing with security forces. Demonstrators raised slogans in support of Osman Hadi and vowed to continue their protests until the perpetrators are brought to justice.

In Rajshahi, reports indicate that protesters attempted to set fire to the residence of former Prime Minister Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, reflecting the scale and intensity of the public anger. Authorities have heightened security in key areas in response to the violence.

Osman Hadi was a leading figure in the student movement against Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s government and served as the spokesperson for the student political platform, “Inquilab Mancha.” He was critically injured last Friday in Dhaka during a shooting incident by unidentified assailants. Hadi underwent emergency surgery in Bangladesh before being transferred to Singapore for advanced treatment, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Investigations suggest that the attackers crossed the border illegally from India and fled back after the attack. Law enforcement officials have identified the prime suspect as Faisal Karim Masud, with Alamgir Sheikh identified as the motorcycle rider involved.

So far, fourteen individuals, including Faisal’s father Humayun Kabir, mother Hasi Begum, wife Shahida Parveen Samia, and brother Wahid Ahmed Sipu, have been arrested in connection with the attack. Authorities are conducting further interrogations to uncover the motive and network behind the killing.

The death of Osman Hadi has sent shockwaves through Bangladesh’s political landscape, highlighting ongoing tensions with India and growing public discontent with the current administration. Analysts suggest that the protests could escalate further if the government does not take swift action to apprehend the culprits and restore public confidence.
