According to Danish defense officials, the exercises involved Denmark’s advanced F-35 fighter jets conducting multiple sorties over Greenland’s airspace. These flights were supported by a French MRTT (Multi-Role Tanker Transport) aircraft, which demonstrated mid-air refueling capabilities over southeastern Greenland. The operation focused on testing endurance, coordination, and operational readiness in one of the world’s most demanding environments.
The Danish Armed Forces stated that the mission is part of broader cooperation with European allies aimed at strengthening military presence and preparedness in the Arctic region. Officials emphasized that the exercises are designed to ensure safe and effective long-range air operations under extreme polar conditions, including freezing temperatures, limited infrastructure, and unpredictable weather.
