Iran(The COW News Digital)Iranian Chief of Staff Major General Abdulrahim Mousavi has warned that any military conflict with Iran would be an unforgettable lesson for former U.S. President Donald Trump. Speaking from Tehran, Mousavi criticized what he described as “irresponsible statements” by Trump, questioning the credibility of his simultaneous calls for negotiations and threats of war.

“The statements by President Trump do not reflect the dignity expected of a world leader,” Mousavi said. “If the intention is to wage war, why speak of negotiations at all?” he added, signaling Tehran’s firm stance against any escalation.

The remarks come as the second round of U.S.-Iran talks is set to begin in Geneva on Tuesday under the mediation of Oman. Iranian Foreign Minister and a diplomatic-technical delegation have already departed for Switzerland to participate in the discussions, which aim to address long-standing concerns over Iran’s nuclear program, regional security, and diplomatic relations with the United States.

Despite ongoing negotiations, the Trump administration continues to apply pressure on Tehran. In a recent statement, the U.S. Secretary of State remarked that the United States has never secured a fully successful agreement with Iran. He added that if diplomatic efforts fail, Washington would take measures in accordance with international law.

Mousavi’s warning underscores Iran’s skepticism regarding the Trump administration’s approach, particularly the combination of aggressive rhetoric and negotiations. Analysts note that Tehran’s leadership aims to maintain leverage while signaling that any miscalculation could have serious consequences.

The upcoming Geneva talks are viewed as a crucial opportunity for both sides to clarify their positions and explore potential avenues for compromise. However, Tehran’s firm messaging highlights that military escalation remains a red line and emphasizes Iran’s readiness to defend its sovereignty.

Observers suggest that Mousavi’s statements also serve a strategic purpose, reinforcing internal unity and signaling Iran’s determination to both its regional neighbors and the global community.
