World ( The cow news digital ) The Holy Mosque in Makkah witnessed deeply spiritual and emotional scenes as the Kaaba’s sacred covering, known as the Kiswa, was replaced at the beginning of the new Islamic year. The annual ritual, regarded as one of the most significant religious traditions in Islam, unfolded under strict supervision and meticulous coordination by the authorities of the Grand Mosque.
The replacement ceremony was conducted in an atmosphere filled with devotion, reverence, and prayer. The newly prepared Kiswa, produced with exceptional craftsmanship at the dedicated Kiswa factory, was transported to the Holy Mosque before being carefully installed over the Holy Kaaba by a specialized team of experts.
Hundreds of skilled workers, technicians, and mosque staff participated in the operation, ensuring every step was carried out with precision. The process of replacing the Kiswa took several hours, during which worship and Tawaf (circumambulation of the Kaaba) continued uninterrupted for pilgrims and visitors.
Despite the ongoing operation, thousands of worshippers maintained their spiritual routines around the Kaaba, offering prayers and performing Tawaf in an atmosphere of unity and devotion. Many pilgrims described witnessing the black silk cloth being raised and secured over the sacred structure as a profoundly moving and unforgettable experience.
In recent years, the timing of the Kiswa replacement has been aligned with the beginning of the Islamic lunar year, 1st Muharram, marking a symbolic start to the new Hijri calendar. Previously, the ritual was traditionally performed on the 9th of Dhul-Hijjah, when pilgrims had already departed for the plains of Arafat during Hajj, resulting in a comparatively less crowded environment at the Grand Mosque.
Authorities adjusted the schedule to highlight the significance of the new Islamic year and to allow this sacred moment to be observed more widely by pilgrims present in Makkah. The decision reflects a broader effort to enhance the spiritual experience and visibility of key Islamic rituals performed at Islam’s holiest site.
The ceremony once again underscored the deep reverence Muslims hold for the Kaaba, the symbolic center of their faith, as millions around the world followed the event with devotion and spiritual connection.
