World ( The cow news digital ) Yemen’s Houthi movement (Ansar Allah) has claimed responsibility for targeting two Saudi oil tankers in the Red Sea, alleging that the vessels violated a naval blockade declared by the group.
According to a statement issued by Ansar Allah, the maritime operation was conducted against ships that disregarded previous warnings. The group maintained that the action was a direct response to the ongoing blockade imposed on Yemen and the lingering closure of Sana’a International Airport.
“The operation was launched against vessels that ignored our warnings. If the siege on Yemen persists, targeting Saudi maritime traffic in the Red Sea will continue,” a Houthi spokesperson stated.
Concurrently, Saudi state media reported that a Saudi-owned oil tanker came under attack while navigating the Red Sea, causing a fire to break out in the vessel’s bow. Maritime officials confirmed that all crew members remained safe and no casualties or environmental damage were reported. The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) also verified an incident involving a ship catching fire approximately 70 nautical miles off the coast of Al-Shaqeeq, Saudi Arabia, following a missile strike.
Analysts warn that renewed attacks on commercial shipping lanes and naval blockades in the Red Sea could exert severe pressure on global shipping routes, international energy supplies, and overall regional security.
