PM’s Advisor on Political Affairs Rana Sanaullah Khan stated that there is no fixed deadline to transfer Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan to a hospital, confirming that the government has re-filed its review petition against the Supreme Court’s directive.

Speaking to journalists at Parliament House, Sanaullah emphasized that the government remains bound by the constitution and the law. He explained that the review petition was re-submitted after addressing earlier procedural objections raised by the Supreme Court registrar office regarding incomplete paper books. He added that a decision on the appeal is expected soon, which will clarify the matter.

Expressing concern over the precedent, the advisor argued that transferring a prisoner to a private medical facility could disrupt the criminal justice system. He raised the point that lower courts follow Supreme Court rulings, questioning whether similar arrangements would now have to be granted to every inmate across the country.

Reflecting on past precedents, Sanaullah noted that former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was initially shifted from prison to a public facility, Services Hospital, and was only allowed to travel abroad after an official medical board formally recommended foreign treatment.
