KARACHI (The COW News Digital) Police have resolved the shocking murder case of a woman and her three young children in Karachi’s Surjani Town area, confirming the involvement of her husband’s brother-in-law. Authorities arrested the suspect, identified as Humayun, who confessed to the brutal slayings during preliminary interrogation. Based on information provided by the accused, police also recovered the murder weapon used in the heinous crime.
Speaking at a news conference alongside Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) West Tariq Elahi Mastoi and Superintendent of Police (SP) Investigation West Masroor, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) West Irfan Baloch provided critical details regarding the investigation. He confirmed that Humayun, who had been taken into custody for questioning, was formally placed under arrest following his confession.
According to police officials, Humayun was a relative and a former tenant of the victims’ family. Approximately a year and a half ago, he lived on the upper floor of the same house owned by his brother-in-law, Danish. However, Danish evicted Humayun from the property eighteen months prior due to personal differences.
Investigating officers revealed that on the day of the incident, Humayun deliberately visited the residence knowing Danish was away at work. The suspect arrived at his brother-in-law’s home at approximately 2:00 PM on Monday. Reports indicate that the deceased woman, Mehwish, served him tea during his visit. She subsequently requested him to fetch tailor materials, including buckram and lace, from the local market for her clothing.
Humayun agreed and went to the market to purchase the items. By the time he returned to the house, two of the children had left for their daily religious lessons at a local seminary. Shortly afterward, the suspect executed the fatal attack, taking the lives of Mehwish and her children before fleeing the scene.
Authorities confirmed that forensic evidence, coupled with the suspect’s detailed account during questioning, firmly establishes his guilt. Further legal proceedings and investigative steps are currently underway as police prepare the formal charge sheet against the accused.
