Islamabad(The COW News Digital)Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed authorities to formulate a concrete and actionable plan for the export of Pakistani beef to Malaysia, calling it a key step toward boosting bilateral trade and economic cooperation.

Chairing a high-level meeting via video link from New York, the Prime Minister was briefed on the current state of Pakistan-Malaysia trade and opportunities to expand exports. He emphasized that Pakistan and Malaysia share deep-rooted, brotherly relations that span decades, and that Malaysia has always stood by Pakistan in times of difficulty — support that Islamabad deeply values.

Shehbaz Sharif underscored that there is immense untapped potential in bilateral trade and called for measures to fully capitalize on it. He particularly highlighted the need to develop a robust mechanism to increase the export of Pakistani beef to the Malaysian market.

The meeting also reviewed in detail the current level of trade between the two countries, identifying key sectors with growth opportunities. Officials briefed the Prime Minister on Pakistan’s export capacity and the challenges faced in tapping into Malaysia’s import demand.

Sharif instructed all relevant ministries and institutions to devise a practical and comprehensive strategy to ensure that Pakistani beef exports meet Malaysia’s quality, certification, and health standards. He stressed that such a plan should not only facilitate market access but also create opportunities for livestock farmers and meat processors in Pakistan, ultimately boosting the rural economy.

The Prime Minister reiterated the government’s commitment to expanding Pakistan’s global trade footprint and diversifying export destinations. He said that Pakistan’s focus on halal food exports could position it as a competitive player in the regional and international markets.

The directive reflects Islamabad’s broader vision to strengthen trade ties with ASEAN nations and enhance agricultural and industrial exports, in line with the country’s economic revival agenda
